These were the tools that firemen in Farmingdale NJ had in 1909. A twenty foot ladder and eight 2 gallon buckets. Doesn’t seem like enough to fight any fire, even in that time period.

    You would need quite a lot to put out a skyscrapper wouldn’t you, great shot, bet you notice the difference between now and when you were around in 1909!

  3. Nice image – certainly a bit more difficult to put out a fire back then. Of course by the looks of that rig, by the time they managed to get from the firehouse to the fire they probably only needed the buckets to put out the remaining embers – I think any structure may have burned to the ground by the time they got there.
