Each one of these boats has a fastener to keep it from drifting around the Manasquan Reservoir. If your ever in Monmouth County NJ looking for a place to photograph this is the place.
Lately I’ve been working with a lot of blending layers in elements and I’m liking the results, have you tried them?

  1. Aw Now come on that isn’t even close to a theme, don’t you realize there are limits, apart from which Julie is back and you will never be allowed to get away with that sort of thing. Great Photo, next time post something with fasteners in it. – The Hide!

Love the natural look of this image, the colors and this scene are so peaceful and serene! Gorgeous!

  3. I have to disagree with Ron’s gentle humor…I think a buoy is a great, creative example of a fastener. Who wants to chase their boat around the bay for it not tied up properly? πŸ˜€

I really like the processing on this image…the water comes alive.

  4. Looks like a peaceful place to be.
Regarding if it really counts as fasteners or not… well, my english is not good enough to be able to judge that πŸ˜‰

  5. The International Commission on Adherence to Themes has considered your submission and deemed the buoy to be appropriately classified as a fastening device.

Great shot, Mike. Pray tell, what blend modes are you using most? I have to try some of that again…

  6. Beautiful, serene shot. Your choice of blend modes really brought out the clouds and reflections. You may have stretched the theme a teeny bit but you didn’t break it. I’m sure we’ll see more extreme stretching as we get through the last 1/3 of the year.

  7. Never mind that guy Ron!!! He obviously doesn’t have dictionary handy! Very peaceful shot! I do use blend modes and have had lots of fun using the tutorial in the last PSE Magazine to turn photos into paintings using blend modes.

  8. it’s a lovely shot!

  9. Imagine having to BRIBE The International Commission on Adherence to Themes just to whittle out a little bit of respect, bet it cost you Heaps, and I thought Julie Incorruptible, what hope the world.

  10. This looks great, as much as I cycle through blend modes I’m often pleased and surprised at how the work on images. (one cool thing in full PS is the fade command, it doesn’t eat history states)

  11. Nice -with that stormy sky, the calm water and that one blue boat in the light. Good tension in the photo.

  12. I love this one- the colors and the sky are really great.

  13. Now you’ve got me intrigued to search out those blending modes. Photoshop is something I really need to learn more about. The processing you did on this shot really works!
